Map of Anglesey, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. Symbols indicate large and small towns, castles and churches. Hills and forests are shown pictorially. Latin text on verso. Gerhard Mercator is considered the greatest cartographer of modern times. His plates were purchased by Jodocus Hondius in 1604 and published in enlarged editions as part of the Mercator-Hondius Atlas for more than three decades. Jan Jansson became a co-publisher of the Atlas in 1633.
