Map of the historic French province of Dauphiné, which covers much Alpine France, including present day Isère, Hautes-Alpes, and Drôme. At the center is the capital and principle city, Grenoble. Relief is shown pictorially, giving a sense of the dramatic heights of the Belledonne range and the Massif des Écrins. Two pleasing cartouches surround the map title and a combined symbol key/ mileage scale. The lower cartouche includes the coat of arms of the Dauphins of France.
