A map of France with good detail of cities, towns, villages, topographical features and river systems. Two inset maps show the harbors of Brest and Toulon. The small but pleasing title cartouche emphasizes the country’s artistic and martial prowess. Emanuel Bowen was a successful London mapmaker and publisher, producing some of the best English maps of the 18th century. He was appointed engraver of maps to both George II and Louis XV.
