A fine, large map of the northeastern part of North America, from Penobscot Bay to Wilmington, with an inset showing South Carolina and Georgia. Excellent detail of river systems and early settlements. The many archaic place names include “White Woman’s Town” and “the Endless Mountains” in the area of the Allegheny Plateau. There are few towns west of the Alleghenies, but we see Indian tribes, forts and trading stations. Originally published in 1755, this is the second state of this map, showing the borders established by the Treaty of Paris in 1763. Borders of Virginia, the Carolinas, and Pennsylvania have been extended westward, and New-Hamp-Shire and Prov. de Sagadahock have been added.

Pedley, #469, State 2.
