Map of the Indonesian and Philippine archipelagos and areas adjacent, with a small inset of the Marianas. From the great 18th century French mapmaker. The Philippines are well described, but peculiar prominence is given to the oversized Caroline Islands, called here the Nouvelles Philippines. The eastern extent of New Guinea is still undetermined. An interesting curiosity is a triangular island group off Indochina called “St. Anthony’s String(?)"
